ABOUT US

"EAGER TO DO WHAT IS GOOD"

OUR MISSION

To glorify God by...

  • REACHING THE LOST

Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

  • EQUIPPING BELIEVERS

Ephesians 4:11-12
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ,

  • DOING GOOD WORKS

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
  • That the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is totally true.

  • That God eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that together they are one God who made heaven and earth.

  • That God sent His Son into the world so that we might be saved.

  • That Jesus died and rose again and will return.

  • That Salvation is through Christ alone.

HOME GROUPS

Home groups meet weekly on various day of the week.

Currently we are studying prayer.

HISTORY
From small beginnings

Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.

In 1878 a group of Christians were meeting in a barn that was situated in Warren Lane. Attendance grew to such an extent that there was a need for a permanent building. This was built in Chapel Road in 1886.

In 1955 the denomination to which we belong became known as the Union of Evangelical Churches (U.E.C.). We are also associated with the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (F.I.E.C.)

  • The church premises were completely rebuilt in 1991, and offer comprehensive facilities for the requirements of church members and the community it serves.

  • We are a church relevant for today’s living, whose aim is to reach all age groups with the good news of Jesus.

  • In these times in which we live, it is essential to have a meaningful relationship with God through Faith in His Son Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • We practice Believer’s Baptism and hold the Sacrament of Communion on a regular basis.

  • We are led by a Pastoral Group who are responsible for the spiritual needs and a Committee who preside over the church building and administration.

  • Major decisions are made by all church members.
