" Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD?"
Deuteronomy 33:29 (NIV)
JOHN STUBBS It is with sad regret that we acknowledge the home call of church member and friend John Stubbs. John passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour during the evening of October 17th in hospital. As a fellowship our love, prayers and heartfelt sympathy are with his wife Eunice and his family. John, with Eunice had been a member of the church for some years now, they shared the editorship of the Lighthouse Magazine for seven years. In his gentle quiet manner John has been a very faithful, loyal member of our fellowship, a regular participant of the Wednesday Lunch Club and other church events. John and Eunice have also been keen, loyal supporters of the Link Line Christian Ministry, working together to play a valuable part in the ongoing outreach ministry team, and enjoying singing in the choir. As a couple John and Eunice have also enjoyed the Link Line holidays and day trips where it has been our pleasure to share their company, John will be much missed on these occasions. We are very sad that John is lost to us, but content in the knowledge that he is now receiving his reward in the company of his precious Lord, for a long, faithful life lived in His service. WESLEY'S RULES FOR THE SINGING OF HYMNS 1. Learn the tune. 2. Sing them as they are printed. 3. Sing all. 4. Sing lustily and with a good courage. 5. Sing modestly, Do now bawl. 6. Sing in time. Do not run before or stay behind. 7. Above all, sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing Him more than yourself, or any other creature. In order to do this, attend strictly to the sense of what you sing, and see that your heart is not carried away with the sound, but offered to God continually. STOP THE TRAFFIC SERVICE The evening service on Sunday November 28th was led by the F2G group and the theme was people trafficking. We were told about this by the showing of a short film, together with some scenes acted out by our young people. The way this was presented gave a very clear and moving insight into this terrible practice, and it was a great encouragement to see the F2G group bringing this to our attention, also it was good to hear some of the new songs they are singing in their group on Sunday mornings, and we look forward to any events they will lead in the future. A.B.C. GROUP (Arts, Banners and Crafts) From January 14th 2008 at 7pm each Monday apart from school holiday times we will be holding this group in the upper room. We will be pleased to see anyone who would like to be part of this group. You do not have to be gifted in needlework or craft, as all that is required is a desire to work as a group in creating banners, etc. For any other information please see Judy Blowes or Janet Spurgeon.
