Information on Baptism
Baptisms.
BaptismInformation.

Baptism comes as a result of being saved and not the other way around.  Christians are baptised as a way of expressing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

So why do Christians feel that it is so important and necessary to be baptised?  The answers below help to explain.

Baptism is an act of obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The commend of Jesus is this, “that we should go out into all the earth making nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (Mathew 28:18 & 19)

Such is the importance of obedience to Christ that Peter on his leaving spoke these words; so he ordered that they be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ. (Acts 10:48)

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward experience of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Baptism symbolically demonstrates to the world that the Lord Jesus Christ has been received as Lord and Saviour and that the person receiving Christ has been transformed into newness of life.  For the bible teaches us that the old has gone and that the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Baptism is an act of dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Saying whatever the cost we will follow Christ. (Acts 2:41)

Baptism is an act of Identity with Christ.

By being baptised the believer is following the example of the Lord Jesus Christ when he was baptised by John in the river Jordan. Baptism also shows that just as Christ died and rose to new life so the believer also dies to his/her old life and rises to a glorious newness of life.   (Romans 6:4 & 5)

Baptism is an act of witness and testimony.

Individuals very publicly through baptism are declaring their faith in the Lord  Jesus Christ. By being baptised we are saying to family and friends alike, “I have decided to follow Jesus no turning back no turning back”. (Matthew 19:27).
