Blessed are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD?"

Away Day 2002
Photos from the Away Day can be found at the bottom of this page.

The day that had been planned and prayed about over many weeks had arrived and the various vehicles made their way to Mulberry House at High Ongar.

The journey of some 36 miles turned out to be a bit of a nightmare due to a fire in a sports centre at Rivenhall, which slowed the journey considerably.  However, everyone eventually arrived, albeit a little late, but all safe and sound.

Once settled the planned programmed swung into place and we commenced with a time of singing and praising the Lord with the able accompaniment of Kevin Smee. This set the tone for the rest of the day and soon everyone had forgotten the trauma of the journey.

We were then privileged to listen to our friend Brian Brown who based his comments on Ephesians Ch4, bringing out various points on the body - the Church, as a people and not a building. Having within that body unity with diversity; that we are all unique and that we are closer to each other by our closeness to Jesus Christ. That there is equality within the body where in our service for the Lord we all have varying roles to play. Being children of God we believe and belong and we need to concentrate on our worship being God centred in all respects.  Our fellowship needs to show love in action and people¹s various gifts be respected, evangelising needs the involvement of everyone and we all need to be equipped to do service for the Lord. This being a very brief glimpse of Brian¹s talk.

Then we had lunch, which on the whole was received gratefully.  However, first time events may have ³teething troubles² which can be taken into account for future occasions.

The group time proved very profitable and it would appear that mostly everyone participated in the discussions, judging by the feed-back afterwards.

The children then joined us again for a light hearted round up to the day and having chatted with different folk on the following day, it should be concluded that the Away Day had been profitable in many respects.

We are very grateful to Eric and the pastoral team for all their prior planning and to Brian Brown, and look forward to seeing a new enthusiasm and zeal within the fellowship in the days to come.

Also, thanks to anyone else involved in whatever way to make the day so pleasurable and useful.  Special thanks to Naomi, Eric and Judy¹s daughter, who so ably entertained and cared for the children, thus enabling their parents to concentrate fully on the day¹s programme.  May this be the firstof many.
